“ If you are looking for authentic West Indian street food this is the palce. Not alot of seating but such a great vibe and supper friendly staff. The food is amazing - genuine Jerk chciken. ”
“ This treasure of an open air restaurant was well worth our trip across London - it came highly recommended and we can see why ! Easy to find as you walk down the road and get wafts of the beautiful smell of their cooking. We lined up and put our order in (to be honest it was difficult to know what to choose as it all looked delicious) Food arrived in good time (and it was busy - Saturday lunchtime) ..... ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS, food was packed with flavour and the rice was light and also packed with flavour. All the staff we met were delightful, it was great to see the chefs cooking outside and best of all we got to meet Queen Maureen who was delightful. Seriously this is a wonderful vibrant non fussy, delicious place to visit and enjoy the delicious food 10/10 and we look forward to coming back soon ”
“ Just went there ordered Curry Goat rice x2 large plus jerk chicken, fried chicken and a portion of rice and peas! Shame no dumplings left, will be coming back again! Such a happy and welcoming place! Loved the set up makes it feel like a genuine home-cooked meal! Highly recommend a visit! ”
“ Very nice food, well cooked and flavoured with tender meat. The curry goat had plenty of meat on the bones. The portion size wasn’t the largest but was reasonably for the price. No signage outside but follow your nose through the garden. There are a couple of tables to eat at if they’re free. ”

Rain, hail or shine (and in this case, so much rain), Maureen opens her back gate to the world serving up the best jerk chicken Brixton has to offer. First feeling like I was trespassing, until I realised the Tiktok vids were right on the money and Maureen has a full on catering enterprise set up in her very own kitchen - the trick then is not to get in the way! With recipes only in her head, measured by sight and instinct, the Jerk Chicken, Rice & Peas sauce was banging! The portion was huge, loaded with perfectly smoked and tender chicken with an excellent jerk sauce (and this was a small serve..), full of flavour and atop a mountain of rice and peas. And when a slab of Mac & Cheese is available, you should always order it! Then order an extra serving of jerk sauce for dipping and OMG.. ”

“ I’ve been seeing this place on social media and decided to go here. The staff were very friendly polite and accommodating, which I was very pleasantly Surprised for a Caribbean takeaway. When it says follow the smell of the jack pan I literally did that and found the venue. I have to take my hats off to them for taste, flavour, cleanliness & customer service and general ask for what you get! The containers they provide the food in keeps it very warm for a long time. I took a train from Brixton to Bromley and my food was still warm at the other end. I would definitely recommend here Great potential and a lovely community spirit! ”
“ I have tried almost every jerk/Caribbean “restaurant” in Brixton and Maureen’s is definitely up there with one of the best I’ve tried. The jerk chicken has the punchy jerk flavour that you can only get from cooking over a drum and coals, rice and peas were fliffy and the curry goat was unreal. I also had the chicken wings which were underwhelming, the flavour was there but it was cold and the batter had depressed from the chicken. I’d also note the hygiene looked “ropey”, I don’t know if this was just because they were busy but the outside looked sloppy with food and ingredients everywhere. That being said, I would still 1000% recommend people making the trip down. ”
